The prospect of traveling to Italy always evokes a storm of emotions. Especially when you can afford to spend your vacation not just walking around Rome or any other city, but also looking into the most remote corners of the Apennine Peninsula. But before that, tourists will have to decide how to get to Italy, and which route should be preferred.

Plane

The best option for a trip to this interesting country would be air travel. Today many airlines offer their services and you can find a really convenient and economical option. For example, the cheapest ticket from Moscow to Rome can be purchased for just 7 326 rubles!

Carrier Wizz is ready to provide your aircraft to make your dream come true. True, you will have to make one change in Budapest and spend the waiting time at the hotel. Unfortunately, you will have to wait for your plane for more than 18 hours, although the total flight time is only 4.5 hours!

If you want to simultaneously walk along the sights in Athens or, for example, see old acquaintances who live there, you can choose a flight of the Aegean company, the cost of which will be only 8 thousand rubles. The flight includes two transfers - in Thessaloniki and Athens. Between arrival in Athens and departure in the direction of Rome, you will have as much as 8 hours to resolve your issues.

For those who do not want to waste precious vacation time on waiting rooms and hotels in intermediate cities, the domestic airline Aeroflot is kindly ready to offer a direct flight to the capital of Italy. But the ticket will cost at least twice as much - from 16,241 rubles to 25 thousand rubles. And in just 4 hours from the moment of takeoff, you will get off the stairs in the forever young city of Rome.

If your destination is not Rome at all, consider another direct flight from Aeroflot, which will take you to Venice Airport in just 3.5 hours. The ticket will cost about 15 thousand rubles.

A train

In Europe, there is a well-developed railway connection, so you can get to Italy by train. If you prefer this particular type of transport, then you will like traveling through a number of European countries, but you cannot do without transfers.

For example, to Verona, Milan or Genoa from the Belorussky railway station in Moscow there is a daily direct train to Nice. It leaves at 11 hours 18 minutes and is able to deliver tourists to one of these Italian towns in just 36-40 hours! The cost of the ticket directly depends on the type of carriage in which you plan to travel. For example, the budget option (travel in a class 2 carriage) will cost only 211 euros per person one way.

For a trip in a first-class or luxury carriage, you will have to pay 320 and 752 euros, respectively. So it turns out that such a route will cost you more and more time than a flight by plane.

There are also some features of ordering and buying tickets. In particular, you will not be able to purchase a train ticket earlier than 60 days before the train departure date. Also, if you are traveling with your family, then know that there are discounts (50%) for children aged 4 to 12 years old, and kids under 4 years old will be able to travel for free.

You can also get a discount if you fully redeem a compartment, purchase a one-way ticket (for people over 60 and under 26). In this case, you will save up to 30% of the amount.

There are also alternative routes. In particular, you can get to Poland or Germany by train, from where you can choose a suitable option to continue your journey.

You can also consider the Moscow-Vienna trip, which will take you about 32 hours, and after arriving, take a train to Venice, spending about 6 more hours on the road. The cost of such a trip starts at 200 euros.

From Saint-Petersburg

If you are planning to travel to Italy from St. Petersburg, then traveling through Estonia or Finland is more suitable for you. The first leg of the journey must be taken by bus, and after reaching Tallinn or Helsinki airports, take a plane, which will take you to one of the cities of the sunny country. The flight will cost about half the price of a direct flight from Moscow.

Bus and car

Tourists who have a limited budget should consider all kinds of offers from travel companies that offer to visit Italy as part of a sightseeing bus tour. The tour includes visits to several countries and an overnight stay in budget hotels and hostels. Among the disadvantages of such a trip, it is worth noting the low level of comfort, the difficult travel schedule (it is difficult to be on the road for several hours with short stops), as well as the limited time to get acquainted with the sights.

We offer all comfort lovers to consider the possibility of a trip to Italy by private car.

Now you know how to get to Italy and can choose the best route for yourself.
